Kevin Bloom has spent nearly three decades teaching, writing, and coaching a wide variety of age groups and ability levels. He has a proven record of promoting student learning, improving test scores, and enhancing student writing. His career as both an educator and a freelance writer provide Kevin with unique insights into the fundamentals, skills, and intervention needed for success in the English Language Arts.
As department chair of a top-ranked, regional vocational-technical high school, Kevin managed the implementation of strategies that resulted in the school achieving among the highest growth percentiles in the State for Grade 10 ELA MCAS. In addition, he has served as an adjunct professor in the concurrent enrollment program teaching English Composition I to high school seniors allowing them to earn college credit while developing academic writing, close reading, and critical thinking skills.
Kevin began his private tutoring practice nine years ago providing both group and individual instruction for test prep, college essays, and academic support. His students see significant growth through the diagnosis of specific deficits and direct intervention to turn weaknesses into strengths. Kevin is experienced with the college search process as both an educator and as a parent.
In response to numerous requests for one-on-one intervention sessions due to the challenges created by remote and hybrid learning, Kevin is expanding the scope and availability of tutoring sessions.
